Arab Women’s Council Honors AUB Professor Fadi Bitar for his Humanitarian Contributions in the Medical Field
Dr. Fadi Bitar, Professor and Director of the Children’s Heart Center at AUB, has been awarded the “Distinguished Golden Shield of Excellence” by the Arab Women’s Council on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Dr. Bitar is recognized for being a model for active Arab personality who provides exceptional humanitarian responsibility in the medical field and offers remarkable efforts to support and unite the community. The efforts of Dr. Bitar led to the establishment of educational, clinical, and research programs that have contributed to providing a better life for thousands of children in Lebanon and the region.
The honoring ceremony of outstanding activists and Arab personalities in the social responsibility for the Arab region was held at Al- Bustan Hotel in Dubai, where the shields of Excellence were distributed to the distinguished figures. The award was presented by Her Excellency Mrs. Lynna Moukarzel, the President of the Arab Women’s Council.
Dr. Bitar is recognized as one of the leading Pediatric Cardiologists in Lebanon, the region and beyond. He introduced new modalities for the treatment of heart disease, including procedures that were first of their kind in the world and contributed to new discoveries in the field of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Dr. Bitar is also the President of the Pan Arab Congenital Heart Disease Association and the Associate Dean for External Medical Affairs at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). He is the Co-founder of “Brave Heart Fund”, a charitable fundraising initiative established to provide financial and humanitarian assistance to needy families with CHD. Since its inception, the fund has supported 3000 children.
